An experienced Civils Supervisor is required to oversee the day-to-day delivery of civil works on public lighting and utility projects nationwide. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role involves supervising site teams and subcontractors, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and local authority standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise civils crews and subcontractors to deliver works safely, on time, and to required quality standards.
- Oversee excavation, trenching, ducting, column installation, foundations, and reinstatement in line with the Purple Book and local authority requirements.
- Ensure safe working practices around live utilities and public lighting infrastructure.
- Act as the primary on-site contact for clients, residents, and stakeholders; manage permits, wayleaves, and approvals.
- Liaise with Project Managers on progress, resources, risks, variations, and programme delivery.
- Maintain accurate site records, issue advance notices, and manage daily reporting.
- Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks, quality inspections, and enforce H&S compliance.
- Coordinate traffic management, plant, equipment, and materials.
- Monitor workmanship and reinstatement quality throughout all project stages.
- Support training and development of site operatives.
- Proactively identify and resolve risks, delays, or conflicts.
Education
- Level 6/7 qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction, or equivalent relevant experience (advantageous).

- First Aid / First Responder
- Site or Street Works Supervision training

Skills & Experience
- Previous supervisory experience in civils, utilities, or public lighting (e.g. power, water, telecoms, gas).
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and working around buried services.
- Proven experience delivering works to Purple Book trenching and reinstatement standards.
- Experience managing site crews and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of traffic management, road opening licences, and utility coordination.
- Ability to interpret service drawings, utility maps, public lighting drawings, and civil design information.
