Excellent opportunity for a PhD Scientist working for a global Medical Devices leader in Galway. The ideal person would have PhD focus in Immunology, Biology, Biochemistry or Biomedical Engineering. Having experience with assay development is essential with a strong Molecular and Biochemical background. Experience with optimising assays, including DOE optimisation would be ideal.
Overview of your responsibilities (full job description available on request):
Apply advanced scientific knowledge to develop immunoassays through independent and collaborative studies.
Conduct literature reviews and scientific analysis to support innovative technology and product design.
Establish high-throughput techniques for screening biologics.
Optimise assay conditions, enhance product design, troubleshoot technical issues.
Test prototypes with clinical specimens, requiring biospecimen expertise.
Cultivate internal and external contacts for technical knowledge.
Prioritise studies to meet project goals, ensuring timely completion.
Adhere to documented procedures, participate in lab safety and maintenance.
Make difficult technical decisions, ensuring team and leader consensus.
Provide technical leadership, assist in study design, and offer training/coaching to junior scientists.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required for the Role:
Ph.D. in relevant fields like biology, biochemistry, immunology, or biomedical engineering.
5+ years of assay development and biologics experience with a strong background in Molecular and Biochemical fields.
Proficiency in optimising assay design and conditions, including DOE optimisation when applicable.
Familiarity with handling patient samples and sample management procedures.
Experience in antibody development and biologics screening assays is beneficial.
