Materials Coordinator

The Job:

The Materials Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining the efficient and uninterrupted flow of materials throughout the manufacturing facility. This position acts as a crucial link between procurement, warehousing, and production, ensuring that all materials are available when needed to support on-time manufacturing.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and schedule daily deliveries to ensure all steel, fittings, components, and associated materials arrive as required.
  • Work closely with the yard team to ensure materials are moved from external storage into the factory in line with production needs.
  • Liaise with the Purchasing Manager to track incoming orders, monitor supplier delivery timelines, and escalate any risks such as shortages or delays.
  • Provide regular updates on material availability to production planning.
  • Ensure the correct materials—steel sections, plates, fixings, cladding, doors, windows, and other components—are delivered to the appropriate workstations at the right time.
  • Maintain clear communication with production supervisors regarding upcoming material requirements.
  • Monitor stock levels (both in the yard and factory) and assess material readiness for upcoming jobs.
  • Proactively identify gaps, shortages, or upcoming constraints and take action to resolve issues before they impact manufacturing throughput.

Requirements:


  • 2–3 years of experience in a materials coordination, production support, warehouse, or logistics role—ideally in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Experience working with steel, construction components, or engineered products is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with IT systems, including:
  • Inventory management or ERP/MRP software
  • Excel/spreadsheets
  • Digital tracking/scanning systems
  • Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with purchasing, warehouse, and production teams.
  • Experience reading or understanding production schedules and job packs is an advantage.
