Job Title: Calibration/Instrumentation Technician.

Our partner, a leading medical device manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician / Calibration Technician to join their team. Their devices are used in hospitals worldwide to support breathing, including airway access tubes and respiratory components.
Based in Athlone, this site operates as a Centre of Excellence for Research & Development, focusing on new product development, product improvements, and process and manufacturing innovation. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a highly technical and regulated environment contributing to life-saving technologies.
This role has a 6 month temporary contract, with the successful candidate being responsible for calibrating, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of instruments and equipment, while also providing technical support across multiple functions within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Calibrate electronic test and signal-generating equipment to ensure compliance with required standards.
· Test, calibrate, adjust, and maintain a wide range of instruments, including Electromechanical, Mechanical, Optical, Pneumatic and Hydromechanical instruments.
· Set up calibration sequences, methods, and procedures based on specifications, blueprints, technical drawings, and defined requirements.
· Disassemble, clean, repair, and replace defective components in test equipment (e.g. pressure gauges, tension meters).
· Monitor and verify product quality using statistical process control or similar methods.
· Provide technical support across areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement, and product development.
· Perform testing and troubleshooting using schematics, diagrams, and written or verbal instructions.
· Gather, format, and analyse technical data using established procedures and formulas, including detailed mathematical calculations.
· Support or lead minor projects, including executing tests, interpreting results, and producing reports.
· Ensure all work is carried out in line with company procedures and safety standards.
Key Requirements:
· Relevant vocational or technical qualification and/or certification in instrumentation, calibration, or a related field.
· Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a similar technical or calibration-based role.
· Strong knowledge of operational systems, technical processes, and calibration techniques.
· Proven ability to test, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of instrumentation and equipment.
· Experience interpreting schematics, technical drawings, and specifications.
· Ability to analyse technical data and perform detailed calculations.
· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to propose effective solutions.
· Experience supporting or mentoring junior team members is desirable.
· Willingness to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.
