Are you passionate about animal welfare, volunteer coordination, and community engagement? A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a Technical Volunteer Coordinator to join our clients team in Cork on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a dynamic role for someone eager to play a key part in the recruitment, management, and support of our nationwide volunteer network that cares for and raises our dogs in training.

Purpose of the Role

  • Recruiting and managing volunteers such as Puppy Raisers and Temporary Boarders.

  • Overseeing the rehoming process for retired or withdrawn dogs.

  • Supporting operational administration and contributing to the organisation’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Recruitment & Management

  • Lead recruitment, screening, training, and recognition of programme volunteers.

  • Organise and attend outreach events and campaigns.

  • Maintain contact records and manage volunteer communications.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure volunteer needs are met efficiently.

  • Volunteer Development & Support

  • Develop innovative strategies to grow and retain a national volunteer base.

  • Capture feedback and support regional volunteer branches to strengthen community networks.

  • Liaise regularly with volunteers and stakeholders to provide programme updates and support.

  • Rehoming Coordination & Programme Support

  • Manage the rehoming process for dogs exiting the programme.

  • Screen and support prospective rehoming applicants.

  • Ensure all activities align with internal policies and regulatory standards.

  • Continuously update and improve standard operating procedures and online systems.

Essential Requirements

  • A third-level qualification in business or a related field.

  • At least 1 year of experience in a business, recruitment, or administrative role.

  • Strong communication, multitasking, and organisational skills.

  • A proactive, results-driven approach with a collaborative mindset.

  • Full clean driving licence and eligibility to work in Ireland/EU.

  • Willingness to undergo Garda vetting.

Desirable

  • Experience working with puppies or in a dog care/training environment.

  • Prior customer service and administrative experience.

  • Ongoing professional development in a relevant area.
