Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team in Sligo on a permanent contract.
The Project Manager will lead the end-to-end development and delivery of new diagnostic products, from initial R&D through to commercial manufacturing via the client's CMO Partners.
Responsibilities:
- Project Portfolio Management: In coordination with senior management, create and manage the Project Portfolio. From the Portfolio prioritize Projects to management requirements. Then develop clear deliverables, timelines and resource requirements for each Project.
- End-to-End Project Execution: Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation for both test strip development and electronic reader hardware/software.
- Technical Integration: Coordinate the integration of lateral flow assays with digital reader systems, ensuring data digitization, tracking, and transmission capabilities meet user requirements.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead agile, multi-disciplinary teams (Biologists, Engineers, QA) to meet performance, time, and cost targets in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Quality & Compliance Management: Maintain the Design History File (DHF) and lead design reviews in accordance with quality systems. Ensure tests meet sensitivity and specificity benchmarks required for diagnostic accuracy.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Act as the primary liaison for clinical trials in veterinary settings and manage relationships with contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) for scale-up.
- Risk & Budget Oversight: Identify technical and supply chain risks early; manage capital spending and provide monthly forecasts to leadership.
- Strategic and day to day liaison with all R&D activities. Ensure full alignment between R&D activity and the Project Portfolio.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Industry Experience: 3–5+ years in project management within the life sciences, medical device, or veterinary diagnostics sectors.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of lateral flow manufacturing processes (e.g., reagent stabilization, strip assembly) and electronic reader functionality.
- Educational Background: Degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Veterinary Science) or Engineering.
- Certifications: Proficiency in project management methodologies such as PMP, Agile or PRINCE2.
- Strategic Problem-Solving: Ability to unblock routine obstacles in fast-track innovation projects and adapt to dynamic priorities.
- High Communication Proficiency: Capable of "translating" technical scope for non-technical stakeholders and managing expectations across different departments.
- Financial Management: Ability tightly manage all Project associated spend, ensuring that potential overspends are flagged to management and mitigation plans are put in place.
- Sharp negotiating skills: Ability to minimize risk to any Project due to budget constraints, slips to timeline or Project scope creep.
