Job Opportunity: Mechanical Fitter

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a busy maintenance and engineering team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing production machinery and plant equipment to ensure efficient and reliable operations across the facility. This role involves both planned and reactive maintenance while supporting production teams to maintain optimal equipment performance and safety standards. Must be flexible to work across days and nights with 12 hour shifts.

Job Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair plant machinery including form/fill/seal, canning, packaging equipment, and associated feed systems.
  • Diagnose faults and repair malfunctioning equipment using manuals, schematic drawings, and standard procedures.
  • Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance to maintain equipment at optimum efficiency.
  • Perform mechanical work safely in line with relevant standards, regulations, and site procedures.
  • Complete machine changeovers and lubrication to support smooth production transitions.
  • Work collaboratively with shift teams to ensure clear handover of maintenance tasks.
  • Support production and engineering teams in addressing performance and efficiency issues.
  • Liaise with external vendors for spare parts, technical support, and equipment information.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including maintenance, quality, hygiene, and safety records.
  • Follow site policies including safety, hygiene, PPE requirements, and maintain a clean-as-you-go work approach.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a qualified Maintenance Fitter or Welder/Fabricator in a manufacturing environment.
  • Fully qualified with a Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitting qualification or equivalent (FETAC Advanced Certificate Level 6 / National Craft Certificate).
  • Qualifications obtained outside Ireland must be verified by the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland.
  • Strong interest in preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively.
  • Willingness to work across different shifts as required.
  • Experience in food manufacturing or FMCG environments is an advantage.
