Assistant Accountant

Our client is a growing Irish owned company, based in Kildare, delivering high-quality products and services into the construction industry across Europe. They are seeking a capable and enthusiastic Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. As the Assistant Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting financial operations and ensuring smooth day-to-day accounting processes.

This is a full time permanent role. After the probation period, there may be the potential to work 1 day from home. The other 4 days would be based on their site in Kildare.

Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including posting invoices, matching purchase orders, and scheduling payments
  • Prepare sales orders, issue invoices, and follow up on collections
  • Post entries to the general ledger and assist with reconciliations
  • Support VAT compliance and Intrastat returns
  • Assist with invoice discounting operations
  • Issue quotations and documentation for clients as required
  • Help coordinate logistics and supplier deliveries where needed
  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with audits
  • Perform other finance and administrative tasks as requested by management

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in a similar book keeper, accounts technician, assistant accountant type role
  • Experience in construction/industrial sectors is advantageous
  • Strong initiative, teamwork, and excellent communication skills
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and work to deadlines
