Toolroom Team Lead

Lead and manage day-to-day Toolroom operations, ensuring tooling maintenance, repair, validation support, and continuous improvement activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality, GMP, and H&S requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Toolroom Operations
  • Plan, coordinate, and prioritize Toolroom activities (repairs, PMs, validations, projects).
  • Ensure accurate completion and traceability of all tooling documentation and records.
  • Maintain compliance with GMP, quality, and H&S standards; support audits and site visits.
  • Communicate tool status, risks, and required actions to stakeholders.
  • Participate in operational, engineering, planning, and problem-solving meetings.
  • Technical Leadership
  • Oversee dismantling, troubleshooting, repair, and rebuild of complex multi-impression tools.
  • Review and approve repair strategies, machining methods, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure evaluation and documentation of wear, damage, and metrology issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to Toolmakers.
  • Drive tooling reliability improvements through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Supervise safe setup and operation of Toolroom machinery and equipment.
  • Support training and development of Toolmakers and apprentices.
  • People Leadership
  • Lead, manage, and develop Toolroom personnel, including scheduling and attendance management.
  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and development planning.
  • Assign daily tasks, set priorities, and ensure accountability for quality and timelines.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, ownership, safety, and communication.

Job Requirements

  • Qualified, time-served Toolmaker.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an injection moulding environment.
  • 3–5 years of people management experience (preferred).
  • Experience in a cGMP environment (desirable).
  • Skills & Attributes
  • Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and on own initiative.
  • Experience applying Lean and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • High standard of safety awareness and compliance.
