We have an exciting Industry Standards Lead role within a leading indigenous electronics company based in Shannon, Clare. This is a full-time, permanent position and is based fully on-site in Shannon.

Role Overview:

As the Industry Standards Lead, you will play a central role in actively developing, influencing, and implementing global product standards for life safety electronics. You will represent the company on international standards bodies and technical committees, ensuring products meet or exceed regulatory and industry requirements. You will also advise internal teams on integrating these standards into product design, R&D, and quality processes, ensuring ongoing compliance while shaping the direction of emerging standards.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in international standards bodies, technical committees, and working groups.
  • Influence the development of new product standards, contributing technical expertise, practical insight, and industrial perspective.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global product standards, regulations, and directives relevant to life safety electronics.
  • Track updates, proposed changes, and emerging standards, including cybersecurity, radio equipment directives, and wireless communications.
  • Analyse potential impact of new or evolving standards on current and future products.
  • Provide guidance to R&D, product development, and quality teams on interpretation and implementation of standards.
  • Collaborate to ensure products are designed, developed, and validated in line with applicable regulations.
  • Assist in preparing technical documentation for regulatory submissions, certification, and audits.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor products, and best practices to identify opportunities to influence standards proactively.
  • Maintain internal standards knowledge base and provide training or updates to teams on relevant developments.
  • Recommend improvements to internal processes to ensure proactive compliance and strategic influence on emerging standards.

Role Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong understanding of global product standards and regulatory frameworks for electronics or safety-critical products.
  • Proven experience representing a company in standards bodies, technical committees, or regulatory organizations (preferred).
  • Knowledge of key emerging standards such as cybersecurity standards (e.g., ETSI, IEC, ISO/IEC 27000 series), radio equipment directives (e.g., RED, FCC, ETSI EN 300 series) or similar.
