General Manager - R&D Centre of Excellence

A leading global B2B provider of implantable and interventional medical device components, dedicated to advancing healthcare through precision-engineered solutions is looking to hire a General Manager to set up and run a new state-of-the-art centre of excellence for R&D in Ireland. The new facility will have a strong focus on innovation to ensure the company remains at the forefront of medical technology.
As General Manager, your role will have responsibility for leading the strategic and operational development of this new R&D facility continuously driving innovation, overseeing compliance, building high-performing teams, and contributing to the company's global growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Plan and execute R&D initiatives aligned with corporate objectives.
- Innovation: Lead development of new materials, processes, and product designs.
- Operations Setup: Build core supply chain functions including manufacturing processes, procurement, and logistics.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to international medical device standards (e.g., ISO 13485, MDR, FDA).
- Team Development: Recruit and manage interdisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.
Requirements;
- Master’s or Ph.D. in engineering, materials science, or biomedical fields.
- 10+ years in R&D and leadership within the medical device industry, preferably with international exposure and experience in Class III devices (e.g., cardiovascular or neurovascular).
- Strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and project management.
- Willingness to travel globally on occasion; passion for innovation and industry trends.
