A Supply Chain Specialist is a skilled professional predominantly responsible for procuring materials, maintaining inventory, responding to demand, and processing orders. Supply Chain Specialists are responsible for leading the coordination of shipments and organising inventories and are focused on improving supply chain processes within a company or organisation. They determine and order the appropriate quantities and often are responsible for negotiating pricing and shipment terms.

The supply chain sector is dynamic and ever-evolving, with new technologies, tools, and practices emerging regularly. As a result, supply chain specialists must stay up-to-date with the latest developments and continuously learn new skills, making the job intellectually stimulating and rewarding.

A Supply Chain Specialist may sometimes be known as a Supply Chain Analyst, Supply Chain Manager, Supply Chain Consultant, Procurement Manager, Operations Manager, Procurement Specialist, Demand Planner or Buyer Planner.
