Senior Buyer

Our client, a multinational medical device manufacturer, is currently looking for a Senior Buyer to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a full-time, on-site position based outside of Waterford City.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement of essential raw materials and components to support plant production.
  • Monitoring and managing inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability.
  • Providing accurate forecasts and maintaining effective communication with vendors.
  • Executing RFQs and conducting regular competitive benchmarking for cost efficiency.
  • Managing supplier performance and driving continuous improvement in reliability, cost, lead time, and inventory reduction.
  • Negotiating and implementing supply agreements with key vendors.
  • Leading cost-saving and cost-avoidance initiatives while managing supplier evaluation programs.
  • Supporting new product introductions, product rationalisation, financial planning, and ensuring compliance with cGMP standards.

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Purchasing and Materials Management or related area.
  • Experience in buying at senior level within the Pharma or Med Tech industries.
  • MRP experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, influence and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and demonstrates financial acumen.
  • Direct material experience in cGMP environment would be a distinct advantage.
