We are partnering with a medical device manufacturing client to hire an experienced R&D Manager to join their Sustaining Engineering team. This will be an onsite role. This high-visibility role supports a broad portfolio of commercial medical devices across compliance, manufacturing continuity, product development, and market expansion.
Role Overview
The R&D Manager will lead a team of engineers and technicians, overseeing multiple sustaining engineering projects from development through to maintenance. The role combines technical leadership, people management, and close collaboration with Design Assurance, Regulatory, Operations, Marketing, and Project Management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing R&D team
- Drive delivery of high-quality R&D outputs and functional excellence
- Manage technical projects of varying scope and complexity
- Provide guidance on technical strategy and product design
- Oversee budgets, resources, timelines, and project assignments
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and support issue resolution
Education and Experience
Required:
- Level 8 Honours Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related STEM field
- Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience
- Minimum 3 years of people leadership experience
- Experience in the medical device sector or a regulated industry
Preferred:
- Advanced technical degree
- Experience leading technical teams
- Background in R&D or sustaining engineering
- Knowledge of medical device regulatory requirements
