Operational Excellence Engineer

Our client, a leading global healthcare company in Sligo is recruiting for an Operational Excellence Engineer.

Main Purpose of the Role 

Reporting to the site Operational Excellence & Strategic Projects manager, the Operational Excellence Engineer is responsible for assisting in creating and leading the advancement of Operational Excellence and continuous improvement principles and practices across the site through multifunctional collaboration, delivering high-impact and sustainable business results.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Maintaining and continuously improving elements of the site’s Operational Excellence program including Manufacturing Operating System (MOS) Tier Reviews, Sitewide 6S Program, and weekly Problem-Solving RCA Hub. 
  • Promote and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the site. 
  • Assist in identifying continuous improvement and efficiency opportunities across all direct manufacturing and support functions.
  • Lead & execute improvement projects, problem solving activities and Kaizen events using OpEx and Lean tools to ensure the site achieves its quality, productivity, efficiency, and cost improvement targets.
  • Gain Green Belt certification and progress to delivering site training for Yellow Belt, RCA and 6S tools.
  • Use, advocate, and strive to continually upskill in digital tools such as Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Function as Change Agent to influence and inspire employees to engage with OpEx & identify opportunities to apply lean techniques, tools, and philosophies.
  • Managing the site Project Management Office (PMO) to drive timely delivery of site projects and programs required to enable the site to achieve its business commitments.
  • Maintain PMO performance dashboard and coordinate reviews of PMO progress.
  • Working collaboratively with site project managers & CFTs to develop project plans, establish timelines and use project management tools.
  • Manage departmental and site KPI’s and reporting, including maintaining site visual boards (digital & physical).  
  • Maintain & drive visual management and data understanding throughout the plant including assisting and mentoring other functions on site on data and digital analysis best practices.

Education & Background 

  • Bachelor's degree is desirable, preferably in a related Manufacturing/ Engineering/ Science or Quality discipline.
  • 2 years’ relevant experience in an equivalent role, preferably in a OpEx, Continuous Improvement or Manufacturing environment with experience in delivering continuous improvement.
  • Lean Six Sigma or other Process Improvement methodologies experience.
  • Power BI/Power Automate/Power App experience is an advantage. 
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
