Associate Mechanical Engineer – Graduate Opportunity (Medical Device Industry, Galway Region)

We are proudly partnering with an innovative organisation in the medical device sector as they expand their high-performance engineering team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven and ambitious graduate to join a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design, development, and optimisation of precision mechanical components for electromechanical medical devices.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and validation in line with ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR Part 820 standards.
  • Work closely with senior engineers across R&D, manufacturing, and quality functions to deliver high-quality product solutions.
  • Perform root cause analysis, problem-solving, and continuous improvement tasks within the product development process.
  • Generate clear, accurate technical documentation in support of product design and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and design reviews, contributing fresh ideas and detailed technical insights.
  • Conduct mechanical testing, analysis, and data interpretation using relevant engineering tools and software.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Design History File (DHF) and associated risk management activities.

Key Requirements:

  • Level 8 degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline, graduated within the last 12 months.
  • Proven academic excellence — consistently ranked in the top 10–15% of your year group.
  • Strong grasp of mechanical design principles, materials science, and CAD software (SolidWorks or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and experience with analytical tools (e.g., FEA, Minitab) an advantage..
