Our client is a leading multi-site industrial services business with operations across Ireland and the UK. The company is entering a period of change and transformation, and is seeking an experienced Interim Head of Operations to stabilise, strengthen and prepare the Irish business (Dublin and Northern Ireland) for sustainable growth.
The Interim Head of Operations will provide hands-on leadership across Ireland, embedding new ways of working, driving cultural and behavioural shifts, and creating a stable operational platform. This role demands someone who can diagnose, rebuild and embed lasting improvements that endure long after this assignment ends.
Offered as a 12-month contract or until the project reaches completion, this role is designed for a leader who loves rolling up their sleeves, tackling complex challenges and delivering lasting change.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and stabilise day-to-day operations across Dublin and Northern Ireland sites.
- Identify emerging issues and address them proactively.
- Diagnose root causes behind performance gaps, behavioural challenges and process inefficiencies.
- Embed practical, consistent operating rhythms—meetings, KPIs, reporting and communication flows.
- Translate corporate operational practices into effective local routines.
- Strengthen collaboration between sales and service, clarifying roles, decision rights and expectations.
- Assess team capability and shape a robust resourcing plan for the next 12–24 months.
- Identify and mitigate risks, providing clear recommendations to leadership.
- Model the behaviours and mindset expected of the future permanent team.
Requirements:
- Senior operations leader (Head of Operations, Operations Director, GM) with a background in field service, industrial services or multi-site operations.
- Proven track record in business transformation, turnaround, stabilisation or step-change improvement.
- Experience operating across both the UK and Ireland, with appreciation of cultural differences.
- Comfortable leading teams through change, ambiguity and restructuring.
- Customer-focused and people-centred; visible on the ground with teams and customers.
- Resilient, adaptable and able to bring clarity during flux.
- Strong influencer who can create alignment without relying on authority.
- Emotionally mature, able to surface uncomfortable truths and work constructively with leadership.
