Financial Accountant

Financial Accountant required for Galway based manufacturing company. 


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing insights to management and operational teams. Collaborate with various departments across the business to track project costs, capital expenditures, and inventory valuation.
  • Monitor inventory accounting, including standard cost updates, variance analysis, and write-offs.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization and depreciation schedules.
  • Ensure tax compliance (VAT, corporate tax, transfer pricing) in collaboration with external advisors.
  • Manage external audits, providing detailed reconciliations and audit trails.
  • Contribute to process improvement and system enhancements within the finance function.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification: ACA/ACCA.
  • Minimum 1–2 years’ post qualification experience in financial accounting, preferably within MedTech, medical devices, healthcare manufacturing, or pharmaceuticals.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS / US GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven experience in inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis.
  • Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485, or MDR compliance).
  • Exposure to R&D project accounting or clinical trial cost management.
  • Understanding of transfer pricing and intercompany transactions.
