Financial Accountant – Medical Device Manufacturing | Galway
A leading medical device manufacturing company in Galway is seeking a motivated Financial Accountant to join our growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional with experience in manufacturing, MedTech, healthcare, or pharmaceutical environments who wants to advance their career in a fast-growing and highly regulated sector.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and company reporting standards.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Maintain the general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate recording of all business transactions.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing valuable financial insights to management and operational teams.
- Partner with cross-functional departments to track project costs, R&D spend, capital expenditure, and inventory valuation.
- Manage inventory accounting, including standard cost updates, variance reporting, and stock write-offs.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation schedules, and asset tracking.
- Ensure tax compliance (including VAT, corporate tax, transfer pricing) in collaboration with external tax advisors.
- Manage external audits, preparing detailed reconciliations, supporting schedules, and documentation.
- Contribute to process improvement, financial system enhancements, and controls development within the finance function.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional qualification: ACA or ACCA.
- 1–2 years’ post-qualification experience in financial accounting, ideally within MedTech, medical devices, healthcare manufacturing, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
- Proficiency with ERP and accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks, along with strong Excel skills.
- Proven experience with inventory accounting, cost of goods sold (COGS), and standard costing.
- Experience working in regulated environments such as FDA, MDR, or ISO 13485 compliance.
- Exposure to R&D project accounting, engineering cost control, or clinical trial cost management.
- Understanding of transfer pricing and intercompany transactions.
