We are currently recruiting for an EHS Officer to join our client's team in Tuam, Co. Galway on a permanent contract.
Role Purpose:
This role is responsible for leading EHS initiatives across the organisation, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation while driving continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
The position includes responsibility for supporting other sites, with occasional travel required.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Group’s EHS Management System in line with ISO 14001, including certification and audit coordination.
- Ensure full EHS legal and regulatory compliance across all Ireland and UK sites, providing expert advice and guidance to site teams.
- Champion and embed a strong safety culture across the organisation, promoting best practices in health, safety, and environmental performance.
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with current legislation.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure effective corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
- Manage environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives, including carbon reduction, energy efficiency, and responsible resource management.
- Monitor, analyse, and report EHS and environmental performance data to support continuous improvement and achievement of targets.
- Act as the key liaison with regulatory authorities (e.g., HSA, HSE, EPA, Fire Services) and support external audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.
Requirements:
- Degree (Level 8 or higher) in EHS or Occupational Safety and Health or a related discipline essential
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a similar role in the construction industry is desirable but not mandatory.
- QQI Manual handling Instructor Course completed is an advantage.
- Occupational First Aider Desirable.
