Accoutant

The Job:

We are working with one of Ireland's most instantly recognisable food brands as they embark on another period of growth. Based in Longford, but open to hybrid work, the Accountant will be key to ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with statutory requirements. You'll take ownership of daily accounting tasks and support strategic financial decision-making through robust data analysis and reporting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations of bank statements and ensure alignment with internal records.
  • Month-End & Year-End Close: Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations. Assist with financial reporting deadlines.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Generate periodic financial reports for management. Analyze variances, trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • VAT & Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with corporate tax filings. Ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting Support: Contribute to budgeting cycles and rolling forecasts. Provide input based on historical data and current financial trends.
  • Audit Preparation: Assist with internal and external audits. Gather supporting documentation and respond to auditor queries.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for improving workflow efficiency and implement best practices in finance operations.
  • Accounts Receivable Oversight: Supervise daily AR processes including invoice management, cash application, credit control, and collections. Resolve discrepancies and aged receivables issues efficiently.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
  • 3+ years previous experience.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical abilities, leadership, and expertise in change management.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
