Software Controls Engineer

As a Software Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and delivering bespoke automated assembly equipment. Working closely with Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls teams, you will develop robust, high-performance software solutions and support projects from initial concept right through to commissioning and validation on the production floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop control system software for automated machinery (PLC, HMI, robotics, motion and vision systems).
  • Test, debug, and commission machine control software on new equipment.
  • Provide technical support throughout the full machine lifecycle: design, build, debug, commissioning.
  • Participate in cross-functional design reviews.
  • Create and maintain documentation for new and upgraded equipment.
  • Ensure project milestones, quality expectations, and performance targets are met.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 8 qualification in Automation & Robotics or related software discipline.
  • Proven experience in a similar automation or controls software role.
  • Strong capability in PLC, robotics, HMI, and vision system software development.
  • Experience with servo-electric and pneumatic motion control.
  • Good understanding of machine safety standards and requirements.
