Job Opportunity: Mechanical Fitter
Exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to join a busy manufacturing facility in Athlone, Co. Westmeath. This full-time, permanent role involves maintaining, repairing, and optimising mechanical equipment to support smooth and efficient production operations while ensuring all safety and compliance standards are met.
Job Responsibilities
Carry out planned, preventive, and reactive maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement timely repairs to minimise downtime.
Complete risk assessments and method statements for all maintenance activities.
Keep accurate maintenance records and update the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Support production teams with technical expertise and practical problem-solving.
Assist with performance reporting and recommend efficiency improvements.
Collaborate with contractors and ensure all work is completed safely and to schedule.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental protocols.
Contribute to team-based maintenance projects as required.
Job Requirements
Fully qualified Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitter (essential).
Minimum 2 years' hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and maintenance best practices.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and maintenance documentation.
Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and maintenance software systems.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
Adaptable and flexible approach to handling additional responsibilities.
Positive, proactive attitude and ability to work independently when needed.
