Job Title: Machine Operator
Location: Athlone, Co. Westmeath
About the Role:
Our client, a well-established manufacturing company based in Athlone, Co. Westmeath, is seeking a Machine Operator to join their production team on an initial 6-month temporary contract, with strong potential for permanency thereafter.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a dynamic and supportive manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of production machinery while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Working Hours:
Monday – Thursday, DAY Shifts (four-day week)
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a range of machines and equipment efficiently, following all standard operating procedures and safety regulations.
- Set up machinery, including loading raw materials, adjusting settings, and performing test runs to ensure consistent performance.
- Monitor and inspect products throughout production to confirm they meet quality standards; make necessary adjustments where required.
- Perform routine maintenance, identify mechanical issues, and carry out minor repairs or escalate issues as appropriate.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety procedures, including the proper use of PPE and maintaining a safe and tidy work area.
- Record accurate production data, including machine performance, downtime, and maintenance logs.
- Collaborate closely with supervisors, quality control, and fellow team members to maintain smooth and efficient operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime, improving output, and enhancing product quality.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Machine Operator or in a manufacturing/production environment is desirable.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and an understanding of production machinery.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve minor technical issues.
- Awareness of workplace health and safety practices.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to learning.
