Our client, a leading multi-purpose co-operative in Ireland, is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to join their Sligo team on a permanent contract, with the option of hybrid working.
About the Role:
This role provides support at levels 1-3 for business users and technology including end-users, local and wide area networks, network active equipment, SimpliVity hyperconverged server infrastructure, Windows servers, cybersecurity tooling such as Trend XDR, ZenDesk support desk, and all other elements of the technology infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Operational Management: Maintain continuous oversight of the entire infrastructure, with a direct focus on system stability, performance tuning, and capacity planning to support non-stop business operations.
- On-Call & Escalation: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide out-of-hours L1-L3 support and ensure immediate resolution for critical P1/P2 incidents that impact 24/7 services.
- User Support: Provide support to technology users across the business on an ongoing basis using the ZenDesk support desk solution to log and track calls.
- Disaster Recovery (DR) & Business Continuity (BC): Be directly involved in the design and testing of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans to validate RTOs (Recovery Time Objectives) and RPOs (Recovery Point Objectives) as part of our commitment to NIS2 organisational resiliency.
- Change Management: Help implement and adhere to, rigorous Change Management procedures to ensure all modifications are documented, tested, and deployed with minimal disruption to service availability.
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience in an infrastructure engineering and support role
- Proven hands-on experience providing technical support to users and on-call rotation coverage.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Required experience with Microsoft InTune for enterprise device management.
- Required experience administering Trend XDR or a similar EDR/XDR security platform.
- Strong practical knowledge of Fortinet or similar enterprise-grade networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, APs).
- Experience in administering and leveraging Zendesk or an equivalent ITSM platform for escalation and workflow optimisation.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting, particularly PowerShell, to enhance operational stability and efficiency.
