An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Ecologist to join a multidisciplinary consultancy specialising in infrastructure, energy, and environmental services. With offices across Ireland, this North Dublin-based position offers exposure to high-impact projects in renewable energy, residential and commercial development, and civil infrastructure.
This role is best suited to candidates with a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience in ecological consultancy who are ready to take a leadership role in project delivery and client engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage ecology contracts and ensure delivery of high-quality consultancy services.
- Provide ecological input into a range of projects including wind farms, road schemes, and commercial developments.
- Conduct and oversee ecological fieldwork and species/habitat surveys.
- Prepare and review Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs).
- Lead the preparation of Appropriate Assessments (AA), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and Biodiversity chapters for EIARs.
- Write and review detailed technical reports.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality of deliverables.
- Represent the company as an expert witness at Oral Hearings.
- Engage with clients and multi-disciplinary teams on project planning and design.
Essential Criteria:
- Degree in Ecology or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' relevant post-graduate experience in consultancy.
- Full membership (or eligibility) of CIEEM, CIWEM, or a similar professional body.
- Strong technical report writing and project management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Irish wildlife and conservation legislation.
- Demonstrated experience in CEMP preparation and implementation.
- Comfortable working in a team-based, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Full clean driving licence (required for site travel).
Desirable:
- Experience acting as an expert witness at oral hearings.
- Familiarity with key sectors such as renewable energy or transport infrastructure
