The 2014 Fleadh Cheoil is now in full swing. The streets of Sligo are thronged with people and music wafts out of the doorways of every pub and café in town. Over 350,000 people are expected to travel here over the course of the week, and they will sample much more than just the music as they experience many of the other charming aspects of this small town. With spectacular scenery, excellent food and every conceivable outdoor activity from surfing to golf, visitors won’t run out of things to see and do.
Sligo clearly has a lot more to offer than just good music and a great night out. This is a thriving town, full of ambitious, entrepreneurial and talented people. One example of this is the Invest Sligo project established by the Sligo Chamber of Commerce. Sligo Chamber is working with local groups including Sligo IT, the local IDA and Enterprise Ireland offices to attract customer service investment to the county. The project was launched in May 2014 in Leinster House, Dublin and has a dedicated team of people driving the project forward. With a vibrant, talented and well-educated community, and a wonderful quality of life, which I am sure any of this week’s revelers can attest to, Sligo represents a terrific opportunity for companies to establish a thriving business in the North West. So as you settle in to a night of music at Fleadh Cheoil, don’t forget to consider what else this great town has to offer.
