After over eight years recruiting in-house for major medical device companies in Galway, I decided I needed a change. Although many agency Recruiters make the transition into client companies, my gut was telling me to do the opposite.
It is a rare kind of move, but it makes a lot of sense to me. In many ways, I feel that I have an advantage as I have lived life on the client side and know what they are looking for, but it also offers me an exciting challenge. For years I was sitting across the table from agency Recruiters, but it has been refreshing to make the move across and now I can really appreciate the work Agencies do.
My experience working for multinational companies means I know how they think and what they expect – giving me the ability to grasp roles quickly and look for certain characteristics in candidates. The experience I gained in-house means I know how important it is to meet client needs as quick as possible.
For candidates and jobseekers, you should have confidence that my background is best suited to ‘prepping’ you for interviews and explaining what the client is looking for. My goal is to make the candidate experience as smooth as possible, preparing you to meet the clients’ needs and standing out from the crowd.
Making the move to the other side of the fence has given me an added determination to succeed. I changed to agency recruitment in order to serve clients as efficiently as I always wanted to be served, and to assist candidates in landing jobs with brilliant companies in the West of Ireland. Time will tell if the grass really is greener on the other side!!
