The CIPD Midlands Region Committee in conjunction with Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services Group hosted a morning seminar presented by Purdy FitzGerald Solicitors on the subject of “Recent Changes in Employment Law” this week.
The event was held in The Sheraton Hotel Athlone and the topic and presenter proved very attractive with a full room of over 70 attendees.
After the introductions by Sean Gannon, Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services, Athlone and Tom Ryan, Alkermes & Chairman of CIPD Midlands Region, Alastair Purdy gave an excellent presentation.
Some areas covered included an update on corporate bullying and retirement ages in the Irish context, selection criteria for redundancies, legal issues around social media in the workplace as well as the Employment Law Injunction. Alastair also focused on the recent developments regarding Fixed Term workers as well as giving a general update on the most recent legislation.
The overall feeling is that Employment Law continues to be a vast area and ever-changing subject.
This was one of a great schedule of events organised by CIPD Ireland Midlands Region.
