Strategic Business Development Manager

Lir Analytical are a research, development and manufacturing life science company based in Ireland, supported by highly engaged food producers and food processing customers in Ireland, the UK and Europe. Current sectors they serve are Dairy Producers, Food processing & Pig & Poultry Producers. Lir Analytical has grown from a research project in the Midlands, into one of the fastest-growing companies in Bio-Security development.

As the Strategic Business Development Manager, you will work closely with the Senior management team to create and implement effective business and sales strategies. Your expertise will be crucial in defining targets, growth plans, timelines, and KPIs, ensuring the achievement of ambitious goals. You will be developing, leading and mentoring a high-performance sales team ensuring they are using the CRM to its full potential to deliver a world-class experience to clients.

By identifying opportunities in target markets and establishing SMART targets, you will play a key role in driving growth and success while maintaining the highest standards.

You will refine processes and reinforce support structures to create a solid foundation for continued growth and expansion.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver the Business Development and Sales Strategy to support the strategic Growth in targeted regions and Markets

  • Work closely with the Strategic Marketing Manager to co-create a winning business and marketing strategy, including targets, growth plan, timelines and KPIs

  • Identify opportunities in target markets for focus and penetration

  • Work closely with Distributors, Customers and the marketing function to define targets

  • Manage and monitor the performance of the Business Development & Sales plan – adjust and refocus as needed to achieve targets

  • Own and manage customer interface and growth in Country & Region

  • Develop and understand target markets, trends, key customers and opportunities.

  • Drive product and portfolio sales with customers and distributors by providing expertise and technical knowledge of products.

  • Develop an opportunity pipeline to support the overall BD and sales strategy and growth plan

  • Partner with the Strategic Marketing Manager to communicate the portfolio benefit to customers.

  • Ensure that CRM system/s are fully utilised and data from such systems are used to manage the achievement of targets

  • Manage the customer interface through the CRM system and ensures excellent customer service

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in business, B Comm, scientific, marketing, or related field

  • Minimum 7-8 years experience in strategic business development and sales and a demonstrated track record in developing and delivering results

  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills

  • In-depth knowledge of the scientific, food/agri or chemical industry

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Experience in Mentoring of a high-performance sales team

  • Must be a fluent English speaker. Fluency in another European language is desirable

  • Organised and effective planning with attention to detail

  • Strong Project management and analytical skills

  • Customer-focused with the ability to translate marketing strategies and insights into sales

  • High level of proficiency in the use of social media

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, notably PowerPoint and Excel

  • Flexible and agile approach to support an emerging / start-up industry
