Sligo Airport Manager

Sligo Airport is recruiting an Airport Manager, with responsibility for the development, maintenance and day-to-day management of the Aerodrome and Air Navigation Service, Safety Management Systems, Security, Quality Management Systems, development of Staff and the financial performance of the Company.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leadership, strategic development, corporate governance, commercial and financial control, and previous experience as an Aerodrome Manager in the current EU Regulatory environment.

As the Accountable Manager for Sligo Airport, in-depth knowledge and experience of EU Aerodrome Regulation is a key requirement in the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and motivating staff and overseeing the implementation of HR and staff recruitment.
  • Keeping the Board and Stakeholders of the Company informed of airport activity and corporate issues on an ongoing basis through regular communication with the Board and Annual General meetings.
  • Establish and implement the safety targets and objectives and ensure that safety is given the highest priority and monitor achievement through the regularly scheduled Board Meetings and Chairing of the Airport Safety Committee.
  • Ensure the Airport’s Business Plan is sufficiently resourced to meet the requirements of maintaining the Aerodrome Certificate, regarding its Safety Management System.
  • Monitor the implementation and functioning of the safety management system, including the necessary safety actions, reports, documentation, and training.
  • Manage the safety reporting system of the aerodrome including initiating and participating in internal occurrence/accident investigations.
  • Ensure all EASA/ICAO regulations are met.
  • Chair the Airport Safety & Compliance Committee meetings and the Airport Local Runway Safety Team meetings.
  • Liaise with the Company Accountant to provide timely annual financial accounts.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum 10 years’ senior leadership experience within the aviation industry.
  • Previous experience as an Aerodrome Manager in the current EU Regulatory environment.
  • A thorough understanding of the aviation regulations, safety standards and best practice.
  • Proven commercial experience with ability to identify and develop new income opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong corporate governance skills.
  • Background in Air Traffic Control an advantage.
