Senior Procurement Specialist - Electrical

We are partnering with a leading utility solutions provider servicing the Power, Water, Telecom & Energy sectors who are looking to bring in a Senior Procurement Specialist who will help build out the Procurement Function within the business. With significant projects across Ireland, the UK, and Scandinavia, there promises to be exceptional growth within the business and with this great opportunity. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this is a significant opportunity for you to enhance your experience by building the procurement function from the ground up, implementing procurement policies and procedures and leading best practice. Experience within the electrical sector is essential (construction/engineering sector experience desirable). Work from home options available.


Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Implementing best procurement policies and procedures

  • Sourcing new suppliers & products worldwide

  • Visit supplier facilities and conduct vendor appraisals

  • Managing supplier relationships

  • Managing & updating Supplier Database

  • Scheduling & prioritizing requisitions and sending out enquiries to suitable suppliers

  • Collating & assessing quotations received ensuring compliance with specifications.

  • Negotiating pricing, payment terms & conditions in line with budgets.

  • Collaborating with site management team to reach collective decisions where necessary

  • Offering site staff alternative materials as appropriate

  • Keep abreast of developments in local and International markets inc 

  • Assisting QS's with Subcontract procurement as and when required

  • Raising Subcontract Orders

What the ideal candidate looks like:

  • 3rd-level qualification in Procurement / Supply Chain Management or equivalent

  • 5 years + experience in construction/engineering sector

  • Experience in a procurement department in the HV/MV industry is most desirable

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Proficient IT skills

  • Ability to create and implement best procurement policies and procedures

  • Ability to “roll the sleeves up” and work independently.

  • Able to make decisions in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
