Senior Interview Transcriptionist - Remote - Permanent
Our cleint is seeking a highly experienced Interview Transcriptionist to join their established Irish transcription team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is a specialist transcription role focused primarily on the accurate transcription of HR interviews, workplace investigation interviews and related professional interviews.
The successful candidate will have exceptional listening and transcription skills, an excellent command of written English and an almost obsessive attention to detail. The role requires someone who can listen carefully to different voices, accents and speaking styles and produce a minimum 99.9% accurate transcript.
This is a home-based role, but it is not a flexible or casual working arrangement. The successful candidate will be required to work set office hours, Monday to Friday, as part of a professional transcription team.
Accuracy, consistency and reliability are fundamental to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately transcribe HR interviews, workplace investigation interviews and related professional interviews from audio recordings.
  • Identify and distinguish between multiple speakers, including where speakers have different accents, speech patterns or voices.
  • Produce transcripts to an exceptionally high standard of accuracy.
  • Achieve and maintain a minimum 99.9% accuracy standard.
  • Carefully listen to audio to identify words, phrases, names, terminology and context.
  • Correctly identify speakers and maintain accurate speaker labels throughout transcripts.
  • Apply excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation and formatting.
  • Research unfamiliar terminology, names, organisations and references where necessary.
  • Recognise when audio is unclear and use context and careful listening to determine the correct wording.
  • Review and proofread completed transcripts before submission.
  • Follow company transcription, formatting, confidentiality and quality-control procedures.
  • Meet agreed turnaround times and workload requirements.
  • Handle highly confidential and sensitive HR and workplace investigation material with absolute discretion.
  • Work independently while remaining an effective member of the wider transcription team.
  • Maintain consistent quality and productivity throughout the working day.
Essential Skills and Experience
The successful candidate must have:
  • Significant professional transcription experience, preferably involving interviews, investigations, HR matters, legal matters or similarly sensitive material.
  • Demonstrable experience transcribing interviews with multiple speakers.
  • Exceptional listening skills and an excellent "ear" for different voices, accents and speech patterns.
  • Near-perfect attention to detail.
  • Excellent written English.
  • Exceptional spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • The ability to understand spoken English across a wide range of Irish and international accents.
  • The ability to distinguish between speakers and accurately follow conversations involving interruptions, overlapping speech and natural conversational language.
  • Excellent concentration and the ability to remain focused on detailed audio work for extended periods.
  • Strong research and comprehension skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage a consistent workload.
  • A strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • A professional and discreet approach to highly confidential information.
  • A reliable home-working environment and the ability to work consistently during required office hours.
Educational Background
A qualification or significant study in English, Law, Journalism, Communications, Languages or another relevant discipline would be advantageous.
However, proven professional transcription experience and exceptional accuracy are more important than academic qualifications.
