The Role:

My client, a well known Irish brand based in Co. Longford, is seeking to hire a Senior Financial Accountant to join their team.


  • Preparation/review of management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet reconciliations to meet strict reporting deadlines
  • Provide commercial support to Head of Sales
  • Act as a link between manufacturing/purchasing/quality and finance to ensure that the accounting department is aware of all activities and the financial records correctly reflect this activity
  • Assist in developing BI system/merging of systems for company/group
  • Liaise with the general manager to ensure correct recording of stock movements and minimise wastage in the plant (e.g. prepare/review monthly unit reconciliation for the plant to ensure all wastage, leakage etc. is accurately recorded)
  • Ensure all labour and overhead costs, and recipes are correctly captured on ERP system
  • Liaise with auditors for year-end audit
  • Prepare/review revenue returns (e.g. VAT, Intrastat, Vies)
  • Review process/controls in various departments to improve efficiencies
  • Management of staff and resources allocated to the finance department
  • Other ad-hoc duties/reporting as required

Required Experience:

  • At least 4-5 years’ experience in financial accountant role, preferably in manufacturing
  • Qualified accountant
  • Excellent IT skills, a high level of Excel expertise is essential (pivot tables, vlookup formulas etc.)
  • Experience in BI system/data analytics would be advantageous
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy with numbers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
