Senior Buyer

My client a global manufacturing company based in Longford is looking to hire a Senior Buyer to join their Supply Chain team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced candidate, who has strong negotiation and purchasing skills, to develop their career in this growing organisation.

Responsibilities of the Senior Buyer:

  • Responsible for adherence to Purchasing policies and procedures
  • Executes buying strategies
  • Evaluate vendor reliability and follows up on any problems regarding the use of purchased items
  • Purchase materials in line with inventory targets
  • Track the status of orders communicating and expediting as needed
  • Maintain the accuracy of the master data related to their products
  • Internal communication with different departments
  • Assist in resolving issues regarding damaged/inferior products, returns, invoice discrepancies, etc
  • Identify savings opportunities and secure the best pricing options
  • Maintain strong communication with suppliers; resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Proactively mitigate any potential problems in the supply of materials
  • Working within the management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders and report any back-ordered or missing products
  • Assisting the Supply Chain Manager with maintaining inventory levels and materials on a regular basis

Requirements of the Buyer:

  • Degree in business or a related field preferred
  • Must have 5+ years of experience in a buyer role
  • Computerized purchasing experience is essential
  • Experience in purchasing and/or inventory is essential
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
