R&D Software Engineer

Our client is a world leader in the manufacturing and distribution of analytical instruments, test kits, and reagents for testing the quality of water, aqueous solutions, and air. They have a requirement for an R&D Software Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have excellent embedded coding skills, has experience in real-time operating systems, and will come from an R&D background. They will have in-depth knowledge of embedded systems and software who will work collaboratively in a cross-functional team on the design, development and validation of a range of new on-line analytical products, including our current range of TOC water quality analysers. This role will be instrumental in maintaining and improving product quality and reliability. 


Key Responsibilities (Full job spec available upon request)

  • Implement embedded solutions using cross-compilation techniques.

  • Collaborate with other members of the R&D team in Cork, Geneva, and worldwide on all phases of hardware, software, and UX development.

  • Develop tools to test and validate both hardware and software.

  • Working with our senior electronic and software engineers, design, develop and maintain the hardware and firmware for new and existing products.

  • Create and maintain project technical documentation.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelors/Masters Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering/ Software Engineering/ Computer Science or equivalent.

  • 2-5 years relevant experience in industrial or consumer product development.

  • Full driving license

Key Skills

  • Ability to write clean, well-documented embedded code.

  • Experience in real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS or Embedded Linux.

  • Knowledge of hardware interfaces/driver development.

  • Experience in distributed source control such as Git.

  • Experience in EMC product testing and compliance requirements.

  • Proven track record of developing and launching embedded solutions.
