R&D Electronics Engineer -Cork
Our client is a world leader in the manufacturing and distribution of analytical instruments, test kits, and reagents for testing the quality of water, aqueous solutions, and air. They have a requirement for an R&D Electronic Engineer to join their team. The R&D Electronic Engineer will work collaboratively in a cross-functional team on the design, development, and validation of a new range of water quality analysers and accessory products. PCB design skills are essential for this role.
Overview of Main Responsibilities (full job description available on request):
Working with our senior electronic engineer, design and analyse electronic circuits and layout PCB’s for a new range of liquid analysers which will require a detailed understanding of product development and manufacturing requirements to achieve high-quality designs.
Design electronic, electrical and mechanical test fixtures / tests to verify the performance of electrical and mechanical components.
Develop and write procedures for product assembly, debug and test.
Experience of reliability test plan development and testing of components essential to ensure the component is insensitive to manufacturing variation, temperature, humidity, aging, corrosion, ESD, EMC, vibration, shock, and meets reliability goals. Has knowledge of FMEA.
Participate and lead as required in technical discussions with sustaining and development team.
An understanding of analytical instrumentation, sensor technology and optical analysis techniques would be a benefit.
Knowledge of ISO quality systems including Design Control and related requirements.
Occasional foreign travel or travel outside the normal work location may be required.
Full driving licence.
What the ideal candidate looks like:
Electronic / Electrical Engineering degree or similar.
2-5 years of relevant experience in industrial or consumer product development.
Demonstrated skill in the following areas:
Design of analogue and digital electronic circuits and PCB layout using appropriate software. Experience of ALTIUM an advantage.
Evaluate PCB design with respect to functionality, reliability, compliance, and EMC requirements.
Diagnose faults in PCB’s to component level.
Knowledge of commonly-used circuits, analysis, and measurement tools.
