***Production/Operations Manager-Kerry***

Production Manager required for a world-leading manufacturing organisation in Kerry. The Production Manager will report to the Board of Directors and will lead a team of approx. 600 employees. You will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing process ensuring effective management of individual production lines to achieve production targets and continuous improvement KPIs. 

Overview of Main Responsibilities (full job description available on request):

  • Managing the manufacturing operations to ensure maximum possible cost-effectiveness, productivity, quality and compliance with work schedules and contractual delivery requirements.
  • Strategic goals and objectives for the areas of responsibility aligned with the Company’s targets.
  • Maintain a clear overview of the areas of responsibility using ratios and KPIs, carrying out process analysis and process optimization.
  • Working directly with the managers of Steel Construction, Finishing, and in close cooperation with management of other functions such as Quality, Works Organisation, Design and EHS etc.
  • Promote and deliver a continuous improvement programme to increase efficiencies and deliver premium quality, whilst also addressing the strategic development of products, systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor budgets and address issues relating to operating expenses, labour, productivity, quality etc. and transmit all figures to the Board of Directors.
  • Provide leadership on problem solving and process improvements, and address obstacles.
  • Resource planning - ensuring capacity and equipment is available to meet customer needs.
  • Management of operations to ensure legal compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
  • Support and practice Lean manufacturing techniques (Visual Factory, Kanban).

What the ideal candidate looks like:

  • Third-level qualification in Engineering is preferable.
  • 5 years’ experience managing a large scale manufacturing operation in a multi-shift environment with a proven track record of success.
  • A proven track record of leading change management programmes in a manufacturing environment and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience in LEAN manufacturing.
  • Experience in ERP/MES systems desirable.
  • Experience of working in a unionised environment desirable.
