Maintenance Technician

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join a leading life sciences company based in Cork on an initial 12-month contract with great scope for extension/permanency.

Reporting to the Site Maintenance and Facilities Manager, the maintenance technician will directly support the manufacture of Membrane and \ or CPG products in the Membrane and \ or CPG Manufacturing Departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out the execution of the preventative maintenance routines & repair of all production equipment.

  • Troubleshoot equipment related process problems & equipment failures to determine root cause hence instigate repair using the latest lean tools & techniques.

  • Carry out trouble-shooting of electrical / instrument and control and mechanical problems.

  • Assist in the maintenance of the plant utility equipment support the production process (including building, environment & facilities) as requested i.e. purified water systems, AHU's etc.

  • Execute and update as appropriate the existing preventative maintenance program, in order to minimize downtime and optimize plant performance. Site uses Infor DataStream at present.

  • Ensure that comprehensive maintenance documentation exists for each equipment item & that it is filed in an organized & legible manner.

  • Develop critical spares list for the equipment & ensure that critical spares are in stock or are readily available at all times. Ensure that an effective program is then maintained.

  • Ensure that all critical instruments are setup for routine calibrations on site system and that these calibrations are performed on or before the due date.

  • Ensure strict compliance of GMP and SOP procedures during the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and electronic plant and systems associated with producing the finished product.

  • Assist liaise with and/or organize contractors carrying out maintenance/ calibration/ certification work as required.

Role Requirements:

  • Candidate must have successfully completed a Mechanical apprenticeship \ time served.

  • Preferred candidate to have basic electrical experience within a production environment.

  • Preferred candidate to have calibration \ instrumentation experience.

  • Advantageous to have a recognised electrical qualification as well.

  • Minimum of 5 years working in a Manufacturing Environment within the Medical Device and/or Pharmaceutical Industry.

  • Preferable experience with CMMS Infor PM System.
