Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join an expanding Maintenance Team in Westmeath. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern plant facilities and services while supporting production in achieving top performance.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of the Maintenance Team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of equipment, tackling both electrical and mechanical challenges, and driving continuous improvements in plant reliability.

  • Maintenance & Monitoring
    • Carrying out routine checks and monitoring plant/equipment performance.
    • Completing planned mechanical & electrical maintenance using CMMS.
    • Calibrating and testing alarms, instrumentation, and plant systems.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs
    • Responding quickly to plant/equipment failures and recording resolutions.
    • Diagnosing and solving mechanical, electrical, and process issues.
    • Repairing electrical installations, including panel fault finding and VSD replacement.
  • Support & Collaboration
    • Working closely with sub-contractors to complete tasks safely and on time.
    • Partnering with production to ensure equipment supports performance targets.
    • Making suggestions to improve plant reliability and efficiency.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Managing permits to work (LOTO, hot works, general permits).
    • Using remote monitoring tools such as BMS to check plant condition.
    • Ensuring all work follows safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Other Key Duties
    • Coordinating plant shutdowns with management.
    • Managing spares to ensure reliability of operations.
    • Providing out-of-hours support on a rotational basis.
    • Supporting general plant, services, and WWTP maintenance.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Mechanical qualification (electrical/instrumentation experience highly desirable).
  • Multi-skilled/cross-skilled mindset.
  • Previous experience in facilities or high-volume manufacturing maintenance with electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic drawings.
  • Familiarity with technically challenging applications is an advantage.
  • Strong track record of interacting with suppliers, internal teams, and contractors.
