Maintenance Electrician

Role and Responsibilities

Provide electrical expertise to the Production and Engineering teams. Carry out electrical repairs and preventive maintenance on plant machines and ancillary equipment minimising production downtime 

 Summary of Responsibilities

  • Technical responsibility for maintaining, developing, troubleshooting and validating the systems in a compliant manner.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in the area of process and equipment installation, development
  • Build and develop contacts with external technical representatives, vendors agents etc, in order to keep abreast of technological developments, new product introductions etc in the electrical field
  • Monitor and evaluate safety practices and ensure compliance with legislation where relevant. (CE compliance of equipment)
  • Troubleshooting electrical, mechanical and material handling systems for extruder
  • Logging and reporting downtime/quality issues
  • Supporting product, process and equipment analysis and improvement projects
  • Working as member of a team to resolve open issues, drive process improvements in design, layout and operational performance 
  • Advising management team on recommended adjustments and modifications to production process
  • Provide electrical expertise on the introduction of additional equipment and machinery to the plant

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Level 6 qualification
  • 2+ years experience working as a Maintenance Electrician in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Experience in PLC’s
  • Experience interpreting Electrical Drawings
  • Knowledgeable in lean manufacturing and six sigma (green belt preferred)
  • Highly computer literate
  • Must be able to work on own initiative, as well as in a team environment

Candidate Qualities/Attributes

Excellent analytical, problem solving and electrical skills. Detail and goal oriented, has the flexibility to deal with multiple and changing priorities while focussed delivering reliable and efficient production standards.

Ability to manage own time and workload, juggling conflicting priorities.
