IT Technical Support Officer

Our client based, an educational facility based in Sligo require an IT Technical Support Engineer to join their team on a 1 year contract basis initially.

Duties include:

  • Provide technical support in an effective and responsive manner
  • Manage the ICT helpdesk and resolve or escalate appropriate tickets
  • Support email, internet, business and other systems including Windows desktop PCs, laptops and server hardware
  • Analyse and resolve problems relating to email, internet, printing, and systems
  • Install hardware and software solutions to support database, web and educational applications
  • Implement network expansions and upgrades
  • Advise and assist other members of the ICT and AV team
  • Manage software licences and ensure full compliance
  • Manage ICT and AV assets including procurement, disposal, support and maintenance
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of ICT and AV work program, annual budget and cost control
  • Keep abreast of information technology evolution and identify opportunities for such technologies to be utilised
  • To support the ICT Coordinator to communicate, implement and manage all change management initiatives within the relevant area of responsibility
  • To provide on-going support to staff including handling day to day problems and identifying training and development requirements as appropriate
  • To provide specialist technical assistance and support in the delivery of projects as required.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Level 7 Qualification (or above) in Information Technology 
  • At least three years’ relevant work experience in an Information Technology environment including relevant practical experience
  • Other relevant vocational qualification or technical training
  • Ability to take initiative, show leadership and work with people
  • Ability to provide on the job learning and training of other staff
  • IT Helpdesk experience
  • Technical skills in a number of the following technical areas:
    • ICT Helpdesk Management
    • Sever Hardware
    • Windows Server OS Management including HyperV
    • Office 365 and Azure AD administration with PowerShell experience
    • PC / laptop hardware and Windows OS installs 
    • Networking – switches. VLANs, firewalls and wireless access solutions
    • MS SQL, Access and Visual Basic
    • ICT Security
    • E-Learning environments
