Our client based, an educational facility based in Sligo requires a Home Economics Assistant to join their team There are two open vacancies available.
The first is a part-time position, with a 3-day working week. This is a 1-year fixed-term contract.
The second is a full-time, maternity leave contract.
As a Home Economics Assistant, you will be responsible for the following:
- Advanced preparation for practical laboratory sessions
- Ensuring all required supplies and equipment are available in advance of practical sessions
- Organising and setting up lecturer demonstrations for practical laboratory sessions across the areas of Home Economics
- Assisting the lecturer prior to, during and after class as required
- Assisting students during laboratory practicals
- Liaising with suppliers in relation to researching equipment/materials, sourcing quotations and costing equipment and materials

Requirements
- Relevant qualification at NQF Level 8 or above, in the identified Home Economics areas/aligned fields
- Previous experience in a similar role in an education setting or in industry ie, Textiles, Fashion & Design, Food Studies
- Competent IT skills
- Good understanding of Food Safety and Hygiene Regulations
