Job Title: Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Mechanic

Location: Co. Westmeath

Our partner, a well-respected commercial vehicle specialist located in Moate, Co. Westmeath, is seeking a qualified HGV Mechanic to join their experienced team. They provide servicing, diagnostics, and repairs for a fleet of commercial vehicles and are committed to delivering high-quality mechanical support for their customers.

The HGV Mechanic will be responsible for carrying out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on commercial heavy goods vehicles. The successful candidate will play an important part in a busy workshop environment, ensuring vehicles are maintained to high safety and performance standards


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative servicing.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
  • Repair or replace key components, including engine components, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, and electrical systems.
  • Prepare vehicles for roadworthiness testing and ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate service records and workshop documentation.
  • Work closely with other technicians and workshop staff to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with workshop health and safety procedures.
  • Support ongoing improvements in workshop processes and service delivery.

Key requirements

  • Fully qualified Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Mechanic or equivalent trade qualification.
  • Previous experience working with HGVs or commercial vehicles in a workshop environment.
  • Strong mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development
