Health and Safety Officer

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our client, a leading plastics manufacturing company based in West Limerick, on a permanent contract. This is a fully onsite position and will be based on a Mon-Fri week (8am - 5pm).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies, procedures, and current legislation.
  • Provide expert Health & Safety guidance and promote a positive safety culture across the organisation.
  • Support management and employees in maintaining safe systems of work and best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Schedule and carry out regular safety audits, inspections, and workplace safety walks (Gemba walks).
  • Deliver Health & Safety inductions, refresher training, and coordinate external safety training programmes, including Lifting Equipment Training, Fire Warden Training, Portable Fire Extinguisher Training, etc.
  • Maintain accurate Health & Safety records, monitor safety equipment servicing, and manage incident reporting.
  • Organise weekly Health & Safety Committee meetings, record minutes, and drive continuous safety improvements.
Key Requirements:
  • 3-5+ years’ experience in Health and Safety, including any relevant qualifications.
  • Ability to become familiar with the day-to-day operations of the business and staff, as well as the equipment and materials used.
  • Ability to conduct hazard/incident investigations.
  • Previous experience working in a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Dynamic individual with a ‘can-do’ attitude, prepared to take responsibility, be flexible, motivated and drive results.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with people at all levels of an organisation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including excel, powerpoint, word.
