Our client are currently seeking a Health & Safety Manager, in this position you will have the opportunity to be the management representative in the Ireland Senior Management Team, acting as a figurehead for health and safety matters within the business. You will be part of the Group Health Safety and Wellbeing function and will report to the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

Responsibilities:
- Provide pertinent professional advice to others within the business within a timely manner in order to facilitate informed decision making on health, safety and wellbeing
- Lead and facilitate incident investigations, including identification of immediate and root causes and the generation of suitable actions
- Manage the ISO45001 certificated management system
- Develop and implement wellbeing, health & safety programmes including training and competency frameworks
- Be the principal contact for a range of external stakeholders in relation to the business Management System, including auditors
- Establish and maintain a suitable framework to ensure legal compliance on health & safety matters
- Seek out relevant best practice outside the business and sector to bring back and deliver suitable implementation plans
- Wider interaction with other businesses within the business
- Represent the Ireland business in Group Health, Safety and Wellbeing activities
Experience required:
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent) and IOSH membership.
- Extensive relevant health & safety management experience, along with an excellent track record for managing leading and lagging health & safety metrics in order to improve health & safety performance.
- Demonstrate a suitable level of competency in auditing, and personnel and cost management relevant to managing a small departmental function.
- Ideally you will have experience in a construction environment or a cement, minerals environment.

- Thorough knowledge of relevant H&S legislation
- Competent risk assessor
- Ability to mentor/coach fellow auditors and auditees
- Current knowledge of behaviour-based safety
- Understanding of safety culture development
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Sound understanding of business management systems including relevant Standards e.g. ISO 45001
- Awareness of generally available data & information in relation to such matters as industrial health trends
- Excellent engagement skills
- Good knowledge of core IT systems
