Head of Procurement

Our client is a leading company in the Medical Devices industry and an exciting opportunity has opened up for a Head of Purchasing to join their established team located in Killorglin, Kerry. Working as part of the Senior Management team, this role will provide strategic direction to the purchasing team and will drive process improvements within the department. This role will require a self-starter with the ability to lead a team and manage the day-to-day of the purchasing department. This position will be hybrid after the initial training period – 3 days in office, 2 from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and input for business growth.
  • Identify and build new relationships with suppliers and negotiate with current strategic suppliers.
  • Oversee stock management, including cost and stock holding.
  • Ensure customer offerings are up-to-date with the latest technologies.
  • Manage general operational tasks as required.
  • Handle inventory management, including trending, stock levels, and supplier returns.
  • Maintain and build supplier relationships, coordinating meetings and managing supplier data and pricing.
  • Participate in problem-solving initiatives, continuous improvement projects, and assist with ISO audits.
  • Review existing work processes and implement smarter ways of working where necessary.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a purchasing/procurement role.
  • Experienced people manager.
  • Strong negotiation skills leading to commercially beneficial outcomes.
  • SAP experience is an advantage.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates initiative and has an analytical mindset.
  • Ability to adapt well to most situations.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office.
