We are currently partnering with a company within the financial service industry that is on the lookout for a Head of Data Services. The role is being offered on a full-time permanent basis. Our client has offices in both Dublin and Shannon and is flexible to allow the right candidate to work from either base. The perfect candidate will come from a background in managing large data projects, ideally within financial services.


About the role

The purpose of the role will be to lead and manage all organization-wide data and analytics teams and will have

responsibility for implementing data governance, improving the quality, and managing the protection of data and

information assets. The position will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data

governance framework for data policies, standards, and practices, both at the Business and Functional areas level,

to achieve the required level of consistency, quality, and protection to meet overall business needs.


Key Requirements (Full job spec available upon request)

  • Roll out an enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools, and data architecture.
  • Roll out a strategic data warehouse platform ensuring a single source of trusted data is used for Regulatory, Client, and Operational reporting.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data analysts and architects to provide high-quality, actionable data and reports.
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for the stewardship of the company’s principal information assets
  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data-related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated, and well understood, and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards, and adoption requirements across the enterprise.
  • Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements
  • Lead the design and delivery of systems, processes, and dashboards for the streamlined production and analysis of quality management information to support management decision making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Proven experience as a data quality specialist in large integration projects (e.g., Data Warehouse, Master
  • Data Management)
  • Experience in designing and implementing data governance operating models (e.g., DCAM). Display the kill, energy, and enthusiasm required to play a leading role in the framing and implementation of appropriate data governance and quality assurance program across the business.
  • Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills
  • Advanced degree in Data Science/Analytics, Computer Science, or similar qualification
  • Proficiency in SQL, Tableau, ETLs, R, Python, etc.
  • Previous experience within financial services and exposure to a range of asset types including residential mortgages, commercial real estate mortgages and consumer finance products is desirable
  • A formal Data Analytics qualification or similar would be desirable
  • Data or Enterprise Architecture qualification would be advantageous
