Environmental/Ecology Sector Lead

Due to the continued growth of the company, MWP is looking for an Environmental/Ecology Sector Lead to join their growing environmental and ecology team on a wide range of energy and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Environmental Scientists and Ecologists. This role allows for flexible working arrangements.

Overview of Main Responsibilities:

  • Overall management of the operational and commercial performance of the team.

  • Managing the interaction between project team members, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Experience or interest in renewable energy, marine, and infrastructure projects would assist in approaching projects.

  • Working in partnership with other members of the environmental team, managing resources, delegating activities, and monitoring project budgets.

  • Experience in working with large teams in a range of diverse projects, preferably in the consultancy sector.

  • Interaction with project managers in other sectors or disciplines within the company and the ability to identify, manage and deal with project risk and develop solutions where required.

  • Client management and business development.

  • Experience of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA), and Appropriate Assessment (AA).

Skills / Qualifications Required:

  • Degree in Ecology/Engineering/ Environmental or Science equivalent. MSc preferable.

  • Previous experience managing and coaching teams is essential.

  • Membership of a professional body desired, CIEEM or other appropriate body.

  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent planning and organisation skills.

  • Strong commercial awareness.

  • Full driver’s licence.

  • At least 10 years experience in the area of planning and environmental management/consultancy.

  • Excellent knowledge of Irish environmental and planning legislation, policy, and practice

  • Project management skills.

  • Clear and confident communication skills.
