We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of heavy-duty mobile machinery used in demanding industrial applications.
This is a key leadership role where you will combine strong technical expertise with strategic thinking and people leadership to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and high-quality engineering solutions to market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of engineers focused on the design and enhancement of heavy-duty machinery
- Oversee multiple concurrent engineering projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Sales, Service, Marketing, and external stakeholders to ensure customer requirements are fully embedded in product development
- Drive the “Voice of the Customer” into product design specifications and ongoing improvements
- Manage engineering resources, budgets, and project priorities effectively
- Ensure compliance with established engineering standards, safety requirements, and product development processes (including NPPD)
- Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities, design improvements, and field issue resolutions
- Promote standardisation of components and sub-assemblies across product lines
- Provide strong leadership through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and team development
- Conduct regular performance reviews and support employee engagement, attendance, and development planning
- Ensure engineering operations align with health, safety, and environmental policies
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and wider business functions
- Occasional international travel may be required
Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Proven track record in the design, development, and launch of heavy machinery or complex engineered products
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineering teams
- Strong background in project management and supplier management
- Experience working at a strategic level within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with CAD systems, TMS, and structured product development processes (e.g. NPPD)
