Electrical Controls Engineer

A large manufacturing company based in the Fermanagh area require an Electrical Controls Engineer to join them as part of their Engineering Services team. The role reports directly to the Engineering Manager and main areas of responsibility include fault finding, installation, machinery updates, PLC’s inverter drivers, trouble shooting and technical support initiatives. Best suited to a results orientated individual who is focused and strong on technical planning.  


Key Duties:

  • Project planning, management development and implementation & control
  • PLC programming and trouble shooting
  • Carryout visual inspections of electrical equipment assess, fault diagnose and repair.
  • Work with Maintenance System to carry out systematic checks on all plant & equipment.
  • Assist in continuous improvement philosophy geared towards making the Company more competitive and profitable.
  • Test, inspect, maintain, and repair wiring systems, generator systems, motor control centres, energy management systems, communications equipment, fire alarm systems, signal timers, lights, and equipment according to work orders and wiring diagrams.
  • Test, inspect, maintain, and make electrical repairs on specialized equipment such as hydraulic systems, research instrumentation, and be familiar with PLC’s, converter drives and thermocouples.



  • Electrical Apprenticeship junior and senior trades with further training in electrical control systems OR preferably the individual will have a level 7 or level 8 electrical or mechatronics engineering qualification but not essential.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar manufacturing /production environment
  • Ability to work within a team and supervise staff if and when required
  • Commitment to health & safety in the workplace
